Man nabbed for allegedly raping, robbing senior citizen in Cyberjaya

Police have arrested a foreigner for allegedly raping and robbing a 71-year-old woman in Cyberjaya yesterday.

Sepang police chief Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusuf said the woman lodged a report today claiming she was raped and robbed by a foreign man at a condominium in Cyberjaya, Selangor, yesterday.

The 25-year-old suspect was arrested in Cyberjaya around 12.20pm today.

In a statement, Wan Kamarul said the case is being investigated under Sections 376 and 392 of the Penal Code for rape and robbery.

If found guilty of rape, the suspect faces a prison sentence of between five and 20 years, and whipping.

The suspect faces a prison sentence of up to 14 years, a fine or whipping if he is found guilty of robbery.

Wan Kamarul urged the public to avoid speculating or spreading false information regarding the case.

Yesterday, a post that went viral on social media claimed that an elderly woman was robbed and raped while waiting for an elevator in the lobby of a condominium in Cyberjaya.
