“This is because the prerequisite for a strong voice and bargaining power (in the government) lies in the unity of the people of Sabah themselves,” he said today.
He said Sabah United is one of GRS’s four core pillars, alongside Sabah First, Sabah Forward and Sabah Prosper.
“To create a united and strong Sabah, GRS must be open to collaborating with any party that has significant support from the people of Sabah.
“The measure of a party’s support is its track record in elections,” the Papar MP said, adding that working with another party would help to establish political stability.
However, Armizan said GRS’s goal was for a national party to be the core of the federal government, with Sabah being driven by a local party.
“This is important because a national party tends to focus on national narratives and interests, while a local party will prioritise local issues and interests.”
Armizan said any party working with GRS must agree to prioritise Sabah’s interests at the state level.
“We need a national party and a federal government that focuses on the country’s direction.
“We also need a local party and a state government that are fully dedicated to building a more advanced and successful Sabah.”
