PETALING JAYA:
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has played down concerns of another sinkhole in the city after a picture of a purported sinkhole on Jalan Dewan Bahasa in Kampung Attap went viral earlier today.

In a Facebook post, it said the image was an old one.

“Repair works to the damage on the road have been done,” said DBKL, which attached a more recent picture of the patched road.

Authorities are still searching for 48-year-old Indian national Vijayaletchumy, who fell into an 8m-deep sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India last Friday.

Yesterday, another smaller sinkhole was reported in the area, about 50m away.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain earlier today said there was no need to declare the area unsafe or a disaster zone.

He said the sinkhole incident has not been classified as a disaster.
