Its minister Aaron Ago Dagang said the ministry is also working to incorporate the five Rukun Negara principles, along with its preamble, as a preface to the Federal Constitution.
“The ministry will also collaborate with the defence ministry to prepare a national identity and patriotism module for PLKN 3.0 (the National Service Training Programme), which is scheduled to start in June 2025, in addition to planning conventions, awareness modules, and outreach tours,” he told FMT.
Aaron said these initiatives are designed so that every citizen will understand and embrace the Rukun Negara to strengthen the unity and harmony established since the country achieved independence in 1957.
“We want to revive appreciation for the Rukun Negara to foster unity,” he said.
Since 2020, the ministry has organised various programmes to ensure that the Rukun Negara principles are fully understood among Malaysians.
In conjunction with the National Month celebrations, the ministry, through the national unity and integration department, has launched an exploratory programme on the Rukun Negara to further enhance understanding of the national principles.
It has also implemented a number of programmes including the Pre-School Rukun Negara Education Symposium, Rukun Negara Module in Unity Kindergarten classes, Anak Malaysia Camp, Know Our Culture, Our King is Our Protector Programme, and the Rukun Negara Youth Tour.
“The ministry focuses on the younger generation so that they are exposed to and understand the noble values of the Rukun Negara,” he said.
He said his ministry has worked with the education ministry and the higher education ministry to establish at least 6,849 Rukun Negara Clubs (KRN) in primary schools and 189 Rukun Negara Secretariats (SRN) in higher education institutions (IPT) as of June 2024.
Early exposure to the Rukun Negara is also being provided to young children aged between four and six years old in unity kindergartens and daycare centres across the country.
