Runaway lorry tyre crashes into motorcyclist, who survives

A dashcam recording, which has gone viral, shows the tyre hurtling towards the motorcyclist before knocking him off the bike and to the ground.

The motorcyclist was only slightly injured in the incident which occurred on Jalan Syed Putra, Kuala Lumpur just before noon yesterday.

A runaway tyre which had detached from a lorry crashed into a motorcyclist on Jalan Syed Putra in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement chief Zamzuri Isa said the incident occurred at about 11.45am yesterday but the 55-year-old motorcyclist only suffered light injuries.

“The motorcyclist is still being treated in hospital,” he said, adding that the tyre had also struck a car.

Zamzuri said the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving, Kosmo reported.

A dashcam video recorded the tyre hurtling towards the motorcyclist before knocking him off the bike and to the ground.

The recording has since gone viral.
