KOTA KINABALU:
Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor said all religious teachers in the state must obtain teaching credentials issued by the Sabah Islamic religious council to ensure their lessons meet quality standards.

He said accreditation would also help to control deviant agendas and maintain the harmony of inter-ethnic relations in the state, protecting it from harmful elements.

“Preaching and educating society is not a light or easy task,” he said at the opening of a state-level programme for Islamic scholars and leaders here.

“Teachers and preachers will always face various challenges and trials that come one after another,” he said in his speech, delivered by state minister Arifin Arif.

Hajiji also urged all parties to foster a harmonious environment and guide the younger generation to do good.

He said Islamic scholars and leaders play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and harmony of the community. Concern for the welfare of all layers of society was crucial in ensuring political stability, economic prosperity, and unity.
