Manhunt for 7 in early morning highway robbery

Police said a 41-year-old man reported he was attacked by robbers with sticks and a machete while resting near a petrol station at 4.30am.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have mounted a manhunt for seven suspects in connection with an armed robbery near the New Klang Valley Expressway early this morning.

Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Ja’afar said a 41-year-old man reported that he suffered head and hand injuries when he was attacked with sticks and a machete by the seven robbers at 4.30am today.

“The victim claimed he was resting near a petrol station on the highway before being robbed of cash and a necklace. He said he suffered losses of RM15,000.

“Initial investigation showed there was no one else at the time of the incident and the vehicle used by the suspects is also still under investigation,” he said in a statement today.
