PUTRAJAYA: Communications minister Fahmi Fadzil today said Umno’s decision to only invite Barisan Nasional (BN) parties to attend its general assembly next week is a non-issue.
Fahmi, who is also PKR information chief, said the other parties in the unity government respected Umno’s announcement yesterday.
The Malay nationalist party said its general assembly, slated to be held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from Aug 21 to 24, will only involve its “big family” and BN representatives.
“No problem with that because we meet almost every day. It’s a non-issue and we respect their decision,” Fahmi told reporters here.
Yesterday, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki reportedly said the decision had been agreed upon by the unity government leadership council.
