Police say the body of a man found in Sungai Klang this evening is believed to be that of local singer Nidza Afham Mokhtar.

According to Buletin TV3, Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the body was found by someone fishing in the area at around 7pm.

“Upon further examination, we believe it’s Nidza’s body.”

He said the body was found about 1km from the bridge where the singer’s mobile phone and wallet were found earlier by his family.

Hussein said the body had been sent to a hospital for a post-mortem.

The victim’s family had been notified to come forward to positively identify him.

Earlier, the Selangor fire and rescue department confirmed the discovery of the body near the Sungai Klang bridge.

The department’s assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the man was found wearing dark clothing, with the number 56 on it.

Nidza’s family members found his phone and wallet at the bridge. His automated teller card was missing.

Nidza became well-known for his song covers on social media, especially on his YouTube channel, where his rendition of Rindu Setengah Mati garnered nearly seven million views.

He rose to fame with his single, Ternyata Bukan Aku.
