“If you ask about the possibility, it remains open due to circumstances such as illness, death or other factors.
“I’m not saying it can’t happen,” he was quoted as saying in an Utusan Malaysia report.
“At present, I have a strong team in Selangor and we are pleased to be working together. We admit there is a need for improved performance to enhance services after a year in office.”
Amirudin was responding to reports yesterday suggesting that a reshuffle might take place at the end of this month or next month, with the potential replacement of two exco members from PKR and DAP.
However, FMT later quoted two Selangor executive councillors, Najwan Halimi and Jamaliah Jamaluddin, as dismissing these reshuffle rumours.
Amirudin said today that the speculation about a reshuffle should motivate leaders to enhance their efforts to meet promises and achieve goals.
He also said he planned to meet with state executive council members, assembly members and village heads in separate sessions to discuss tasks and responsibilities.
Regarding rumours that either he or Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun might join the federal Cabinet, Amirudin said he would prefer to stay in his current role to ensure the success of Selangor’s plans and projects.
“I want to ensure we complete the Rancangan Selangor, the Sabak Bernam Development Area and projects related to the Integrated Development Region in south Selangor,” he said, adding that any changes could affect state and party performance.
However, he acknowledged the need to follow the decision of the party leadership in these matters.
Yesterday, FMT reported a well-placed source from PKR as saying that a menteri besar was likely to take up a ministerial post in another Cabinet shake-up.
The Cabinet was last reshuffled in December last year and expanded from 29 ministers to 31.
