Takiyuddin previously claimed that thousands of land grants were supposed to be given to settlers but had yet to be processed by Kesedar.
Zawawi subsequently said he would consider taking legal action against Takiyuddin if he did not retract his claim before polling day for the Nenggiri by-election on Aug 17.
Takiyuddin however maintained that his claim was based on facts, and vowed to stand by his remarks, even if this led to legal action following a police report lodged by Gua Musang Umno Youth.
“Because of my speech that night (Aug 3), I was summoned to the police station, but I haven’t had time to go yet because I’ve been busy,” he said during a speech at a ceramah in Sungai Asap A.
“There’s a police report from Umno Youth accusing me of making threats. Was I really threatening?
“Don’t play with police reports, don’t play in court, but if you really want to play, fine – we’ll play after this (Nenggiri by-election).”
Takiyuddin also said Zawawi, who is the Kelantan Umno information chief, should clarify the issue in his campaign speeches so that the public could form their own opinion.
“Zawawi challenged me, saying he wants to sue me. I’ll respond in my speeches at ceramahs. We are politicians – when we are dissatisfied, we resolve it on the political stage,” he said.
He also demanded that Zawawi explain why the land for which the temporary ownership application was approved by the state government for Kesedar had yet to be handed over to the settlers, including those in Sungai Asap.
“Right now, the grants are in Kesedar’s hands. You should ask the Kesedar chairman why they haven’t been given to the settlers,” he said.
He claimed that the land on which the Kesedar office is located in Gua Musang, spanning 200 acres, is still owned by the state government.
“Zawawi should answer that. He’s so eager to sue people and make accusations against the state government, but he’s occupying state government land. If I’m wrong, take me to court,” he said.
