BUTTERWORTH:
Police have arrested a motorcyclist after a convoy rode against the traffic along the Butterworth Outer Ring Road, as seen in a viral video.

North Seberang Perai police chief Anuar Abdul Rahman said the motorcyclist was arrested under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous riding.

“We have also seized 25 motorcycles as part of an investigation into various offences,” he said in a statement.

Anuar said the incident occurred on Sunday evening, with motorcyclists deliberately riding in the opposite direction to evade a police operation aimed at curbing road hooliganism.

“The motorcyclists were going against traffic to avoid getting arrested,” he added.

He also warned road users against dangerous practices that posed risks to themselves and others.

A 38-second video of the motorcyclists riding against traffic was posted on Facebook yesterday and has since been shared widely on social media.
