Badrul, otherwise known as Chegubard, wants to know why the police are investigating him under the Official Secrets Act 1972 (OSA), because, according to him, the document in his possession is not protected by the Act.
“The document is not labelled as OSA and the officer (at the centre of my corruption allegation) is also not protected by the Act.
“I have the right to question the integrity of the said officer because his salary is paid using public funds, and the issue is not even related to national security,” Badrul said at a press conference.
He also accused the police of intimidation, pointing to the raid on his house at 11.45pm on July 26, as well as four other premises, in their efforts to locate him.
He said he had informed the police that he was away in Tambun, Perak, and that he would go to the Putrajaya police headquarters on July 29.
He was arrested on July 28 and remanded for two days to facilitate the investigation.
“I request that the police return the document they seized from me and apologise for the hardship that my family and I endured following the intimidation,” he said.
Earlier, he lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi police station for wrongful investigation and intimidation.
Badrul was arrested to assist in an investigation into his allegation of corruption involving a senior naval officer.
He had claimed in a social media post that he was in possession of a document proving that a certain senior government officer tainted by corruption would be promoted.
