
Harpal, who was born in Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, studied law in Singapore and was the first in a family of five children to have graduated from university, Ivanpal said.
He said he last spoke to his father yesterday, where they discussed plans for spending the weekend with the rest of the family.
He said his father “touched the lives of many with his wisdom, integrity, and unwavering kindness”.
Harpal, who was called to the Bar in 1975, had represented various banks, property developers as well as corporate and public figures.
He also briefly represented former prime minister Najib Razak in the SRC International corruption case.
Harpal is survived by his wife, Harwinder Kaur, their three children and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11am at the Nirvana Memorial Park in Shah Alam on Sunday.
