2 cops nabbed for alleged extortion

PETALING JAYA:
Two policemen from the Kajang police headquarters have been detained after being suspected of extortion.

Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan confirmed receiving a report from a man about a video on social media which allegedly showed the incident taking place on Jalan Taming Sari in Kajang.

“Selangor police will not protect any of their officers involved in criminal offences,” he said.

Hussein said the case is being investigated under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion.

If found guilty, the suspects face a jail sentence of up to 10 years, a fine, whipping, or any two of the mentioned punishments.

The duo will be detained until tomorrow.
