KOTA KINABALU:
An outbreak of food poisoning affected 91 pupils of SK Pulau Gaya here yesterday, Sabah education department director Raisin Saidin said.

He said a teacher reported that some pupils had vomited and displayed other symptoms of food poisoning at midday.

He said in a statement that those with severe symptoms were taken to the Sabah Women and Children’s Hospital, Queen Elizabeth I Hospital and the Luyang health clinic.

“The school stopped the supplementary food programme (RMT) for the afternoon session and advised parents or guardians to take their children and seek immediate treatment at a nearby clinic if they displayed symptoms of food poisoning,” he said.

He added that the cause of the food poisoning is still being investigated.
