PETALING JAYA:
Police arrested a man and seized a Steyr GB Austrian pistol and 18 bullets from his home in Hulu Selangor after a “disagreement” with his wife drove her to file a report.

Hulu Selangor deputy police chief Asri Yunus said the man, a Malaysian, was arrested at his home in Sungai Buaya on Thursday.

Asri said the man’s wife filed a police report on the same day after the couple had a “disagreement”, and mentioned that he possessed a pistol.

Upon inspecting the home of the 47-year-old suspect, police found a Steyr GB Austrian pistol and a magazine, he said, adding that the suspect tested negative for drugs and did not have a criminal record.

The suspect is under remand until July 26 for investigation under Section 8 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for unlawful possession of a firearm.
