Man fined RM1,500 for threatening to kill brother in durian dispute

PETALING JAYA:
A 58-year-old man admitted in the Kuching magistrates’ court today to threatening to kill his brother last year.

Alek Dawi pleaded guilty before magistrate Jaro Lenya Barayan to criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code and was fined RM1,500, the Dayak Daily reported.

According to the facts of the case, the two brothers got into a dispute over durians at an orchard in Balai Raya Kampung Pesa, not far from Kuching, on Sept 7, 2023.

During the argument, Alek retrieved a machete from his car, while also threatening his brother with a shotgun.

He chased his brother into a hut and damaged his brother’s motorcycle.

The brother lodged a police report on Sept 9, 2023.
