Shima Aris said DVS personnel had dropped by her parents’ home last week at 9pm and 2.50am, demanding that she hand over the husky she rescued on July 2.
She said she has video recordings of the “visits”, the first of which was on the very same day she rescued the dog.
Shima claimed that “many” DVS enforcers turned up at her parents’ home at 2.50am, some of whom wore a vest to identify where they were from.
“It felt like my family and I were being harassed and bullied, as they (DVS officers) came late at night and talked loudly.
“My dad was clueless and was traumatised by what happened. He felt he was being ambushed like a criminal,” she told FMT.
In the second incident on Friday, Shima said she received a WhatsApp text from an unknown number demanding that she give a statement to the DVS.
However, in less than five hours, at 9pm, four DVS officers appeared at her parents’ door again to deliver a letter demanding that Shima, who was not home, provide a witness statement.
“They threatened that if I didn’t sign saying I would come as a witness, they would make a police report and obtain an arrest warrant.”
Last Tuesday, FMT reported that Shima had rescued a husky from a man who was filmed assaulting the dog. A video clip of the incident was widely shared on social media.
Shima, along with a group of rescuers, went to the condominium to demand that the man surrender the dog, which he did willingly.
On Thursday, the DVS took statements from a man suspected of abusing the husky at a Kajang condominium.
FMT has reached out to the Selangor DVS branch for comment.
