NIBONG TEBAL:
It was a warm and welcome reception for Che Rifiah Zakaria, 79, as she arrived at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Duri polling centre here to be greeted by her son and Perikatan Nasional candidate, Abidin Ismail.

Abidin, the Nibong Tebal PAS deputy division chief, said the hectic campaign for the Sungai Bakap by-election over the past two weeks made it difficult for him to catch up with his mother, who finds it difficult to get around due to inflamed joints.

He said his mother, three siblings and his son, 18, who is a first-time voter, will vote for PN. He added that his wife will also vote later in the day.

“My family’s vote is not a secret,” he said in a lighthearted exchange with reporters.

“My vote is also not a secret; all my siblings vote here. We pray and leave everything in God’s hands,” Abidin, the third of four siblings, said.
