
Speaking at a ceramah in Sungai Bakap Perdana 1 last night, he said the support of fence sitters would be crucial to deciding which candidate wins.
“We have to convey (the message) to the fence sitters because emotions never bring food to the table.
“Emotions do not solve water issues, infrastructure issues, do not open more universities for our children and only benefit politicians who are representatives of the people,” the economy minister was reported as saying by Bernama.
The Sungai Bakap state seat in Penang fell vacant following the death of PAS assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff on May 24.
The by-election tomorrow will see a straight fight between Perikatan Nasional’s Abidin Ismail of PAS and Pakatan Harapan candidate Joohari Ariffin of PKR.
Rafizi said the support of fence sitters on polling day could also lead to a change of government.
“Please remember, our fate is determined by fence sitters, and they are the largest group in any election. It is up to them,” he said.
