Man impaled on oil palm scythe during motorbike crash

Police say the man was carrying oil palm fruits when he lost control of his bike near Bagan Serai.

Kerian police chief Juna Yusoff said a member of the public found the victim lying in a pool of blood.

A 44-year-old man died in a bizarre incident when he lost control of his motorcycle while carrying oil palm fruits, resulting in his scythe piercing him fatally through the back.

Kerian police chief Juna Yusoff said the incident happened at Parit Sulaiman, Kampung Matang Gerdu, near Bagan Serai, yesterday.

Police received a report at 7pm from a member of the public, who said the victim was lying in a pool of blood.

“The victim was riding his motorcycle with a load of oil palm fruits when he apparently lost control, causing the scythe on the oil palm pole to whip through the air and come down on his back,” he said today.

“The victim’s body was taken to Parit Buntar Hospital for a post-mortem.

“Anyone with information related to the incident can contact the nearest police station or investigating officer Fazri Abdul Aziz at 05-721-2222,” he said.
