PUTRAJAYA:
The government will begin accepting applications for refunds from participants in the subsidised diesel control system (SKDS) on July 1, according to the finance ministry.

The facility is available exclusively to owners of eligible logistics vehicles whose SKDS applications have been approved but have not yet received their fleet cards.

Eligible applicants may apply for refunds through the Budi Madani portal, and be reimbursed for the difference between the current diesel price of RM3.35 per litre and the SKDS price of RM2.15 per litre, utilised since June 10.

This is subject to a maximum amount of litres claimable per month, based on the various types of vehicles.

The terms and conditions for the refund mechanism are:

  • Owners of eligible logistics vehicles must have their SKDS applications approved by the domestic trade and cost of living ministry by June 30 and have not yet received their fleet cards;
  • Applications for fleet cards must be submitted to participating fuel station operators by July 15;
  • Claim submissions will be accepted from July 1; and
  • Diesel purchase receipts must be retained for audit purposes.

The finance ministry will reimburse successful claim submissions within 15 working days.

The refund mechanism is intended to cover participants’ additional expenditures from June 10 until they receive their fleet cards or for a maximum of two months, whichever comes first.
