SEPANG:
DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook has dismissed a claim that party veteran Lim Kit Siang sought to “rebuild the Chinese population” during the Pakatan Harapan government’s time in power to bolster the community’s political power.

The claim was made by former political consultant Romen Bose, an ex-aide to Najib Razak, in his book Shattered Hopes.

“My only response to that is: rubbish,” said Loke, after the launch of Batik Air’s new private terminal transfer service.

In his book which details events following PH’s rise to power in 2018, Bose claimed the Special Branch monitored several DAP leaders, including Lim, who, he said, was keen to “rebuild the Chinese population”.

He claimed that the then inspector-general of police Abdul Hamid Bador frequently visited former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s office to “update” him on the activities of fellow PH leaders.

According to Bose, Hamid said an influx of returning Malaysian Chinese could potentially boost the community’s political strength in the country and government, and that Lim had been quite successful in his endeavour.
