Ranau fire and rescue department chief Ridwan Taib said the incident at Mesilau, Kundasang, did not involve any damage to property, Berita Harian reported.
“We are monitoring the area near the landslide to ensure the safety of the residents in the vicinity,” he was quoted as saying.
The incident caused the Mesilau River, which flows into the Liwagu River in Ranau, to become muddy.
Ridwan said the department received information following the posting of a video clip, which went viral on social media, this morning.
Meanwhile, Sabah Parks director Maklarin Lakim said the landslide occurred away from the mountain-climbing trail.
He added that there were no casualties reported and the situation is currently under control, the Daily Express reported.
