SEPANG:
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) must enhance its premium services to improve its reputation to business class passengers, transport minister Loke Siew Fook said.

He said premium services at the airport were inadequate and required urgent upgrades to meet international standards.

“KLIA was designed more than 25 years ago. The airport and our VIP terminal are not the best or most optimised in terms of premium services for business class passengers,” he said during the launch of Batik Air’s new private terminal transfer service.

For instance, Loke said, government guests must travel from the satellite terminal to the main terminal before accessing VIP facilities, causing inconvenience.

He welcomed any additional services to address these shortcomings and improve overall quality.

On March 19, Loke dismissed the results of an airport survey in which KLIA scored poorly, saying he was more interested in information from better sources.

Loke said two major projects are in the pipeline for KLIA: the aerotrain, due for completion by the end of this year, and improvements to the baggage handling system, which will take up to two years.
