In a statement, Petaling Jaya deputy police chief Shahrulnizam Jaafar said the incident was captured in a two-minute video and shared on TikTok by account holder “Suziey Signature”.
A police report was also filed last Tuesday by a 52-year-old senior executive who claimed to have seen a security guard from a nearby shopping mall throw a kitten into a drain.
Shahrulnizam said the complainant saved the kitten with the help of a cleaner and sent it to a vet in Mutiara Damansara for treatment.
He added that the complainant told police she filed a report to ensure that the perpetrator is made aware of his actions and warned not to do it again.
“Following this, the criminal investigation division opened an investigation and summoned the security guard involved before giving him a stern warning.
“The police report has also been referred to the veterinary department for further action,” he said.
Shahrulnizam urged members of the public with information on the incident to contact the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 03-7966 2222 or any other nearby police station.
