Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), and Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang) were present and sat in the opposition bloc.
However, Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang) was not seen.
Suhaili said Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul had not made a decision on whether they should vacate their seats or could continue as MPs.
“We will continue to sit in the opposition bloc until the Speaker reaches a decision,” he told FMT.
It is understood that they are currently seated at the back of Block E, the same area where Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman is located.
Earlier today, Johari confirmed receiving Bersatu chief whip Ronald Kiandee’s notice last Friday on the six Bersatu MPs whose party memberships had been terminated.
Kiandee had contended that Johari had no choice but to declare the six seats vacant and inform the Election Commission (EC) on the need for by-elections, as a precedent had been set by the Kelantan assembly speaker last week with the Nenggiri state seat.
The EC will meet this Friday to decide on a by-election date for the Nenggiri seat, but Azizi, who is the incumbent assemblyman, had said he would bring the matter to court.
Meanwhile, Bersatu notified Selangor state assembly speaker Lau Weng San last Friday that Selat Klang assemblyman Abdul Rashid Asari had ceased to be a member of the party.
Rashid declared support for Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari earlier this year.
