PETALING JAYA:
An elderly woman and her 12-year-old granddaughter, who were lost while heading to a durian orchard in Bukit Buluh Telur, Kuala Kubu Baharu, yesterday, were found safe at 9.30am today.

Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said they were found about two hours after the search and rescue operation resumed this morning, Bernama reported.

Yesterday, Selangor fire and rescue department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said the search was halted at 7.20pm because of darkness and rainy weather conditions.

The woman had called her daughter at noon yesterday to inform her that she was lost before her cell phone battery died.

Following that, her eldest daughter made a police report at 3pm yesterday.

Mukhlis said the operation today involved six personnel from the Kuala Kubu Baharu fire and rescue station and included the Malaysian Civil Defence Force, the police and the public.

“The pair’s relatives managed to narrow down their location through the phone call,” he said in a statement.
