Despite that, the lawyer said they remain confident that the investigation was being conducted professionally.
“From time to time, we will communicate with the police for updates on the case,” he told a press conference here at the Selangor Training Centre today.
Haijan said that the last update they received from the police was when Faisal, a winger with Selangor FC, was receiving treatment in intensive care.
He believed that the perpetrator would be brought to justice and said Selangor FC was committed to assisting the police in their investigation.
Haijan also urged the public not to speculate about the incident and cautioned against false stories on social media.
The lawyer appeared with Faisal today in the latter’s first public appearance since the attack on May 5.
Faisal was discharged from hospital on May 25 after undergoing four surgeries to treat his fourth-degree burns.
Police are investigating whether the acid attack on Faisal is linked to crimes committed against three other footballers, all of which happened in the span of one month. The authorities have also released a photofit of the suspected attacker.
Faisal also told the press conference today that after the attack, he had considered hanging up his boots as he feared for his safety and that of his family.
