BATU PAHAT:
Four people were killed after their car slammed into the rear of a stalled trailer on the North-South Expressway between Pagoh and Yong Peng last night.

Acting Batu Pahat police chief Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the accident happened at 9.15pm when the trailer, from Semenyih, Selangor, heading towards Kulai, Johor, broke down in the middle of the road.

He said while the 47-year-old trailer driver was seeking assistance in moving his vehicle, a car driven by a 26-year-old man with three Vietnamese female passengers, aged between 19 and 32, crashed into its rear.

“The driver and two passengers sustained severe head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Meanwhile, the third passenger died while receiving treatment at the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital here. The trailer driver escaped unhurt,” he said in a statement today.
