PETALING JAYA:
Reported cracks in the crosshead beam supporting the flyover for the Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) near Jalan Cheras are construction joints, the works ministry said.

In a statement on X, the ministry said Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) inspectors examined the site last night.

“The inspection carried out on-site at 11.30pm by LLM, SPE, and the EDP consultant confirmed that there are no cracks on the crosshead.

“It is only a black line mark, which is a construction joint from the previous concreting work,” it said.

It confirmed that the structure is safe, with the consultant due to prepare a report for LLM.

Yesterday, works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said LLM and SPE were instructed to immediately inspect cracks that have appeared in the Jalan Cheras flyover.

In a post on X, he said the safety of road users must be prioritised, following a post on X which pointed out visible ‘cracks’ in the flyover.
