PUTRAJAYA:
The QR code trial run for bus and motorcycle services at the Sultan Abu Bakar complex customs, immigration, quarantine and security (CIQS) area in Johor Bahru has got underway without a hitch, immigration director-general Ruslin Jusoh said.

Ruslin said the trial run has received positive feedback from users.

He said 117,000 people have downloaded the application, which has been used 13,846 times since it began on June 1.

“A similar trial run is being conducted at the bus passenger lane at the Sultan Iskandar Building CIQ.

“The immigration department is in the final stages of refining the QR code application requirements to ensure seamless implementation,” he said.

Ruslin also said the implementation of immigration checks using the QR code application is in the proof of concept stage for three months, during which period only bus and motorcycle lanes will be used.
