Manjung police chief Nordin Abdullah said they received a report from the 26-year-old victim at about 12.55pm on Tuesday.
According to the victim, he was watching a match between the navy’s special forces unit (Paskal) and the Lumut naval base team when he was attacked by Paskal fans after being accused of showing them his middle finger.
He denied doing so.
“The victim suffered injuries to his face, the right side of his ribs, neck and head. He has received treatment from the military hospital,” Nordin said in a statement.
A 17-second video shared on social media showed the brawl with one spectator being targeted by the crowd.
Nordin said the case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting. Whoever is found guilty under the section shall be punished with a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both.
