PETALING JAYA:
Mata Ayer assemblyman Wan Badariah Wan Saad was admitted to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital, Kangar, yesterday, due to complications from thyroid problems, Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli said.

He said the 48-year-old chairman of the state tourism development, culture, arts and heritage, empowerment of women, family, and community committee was placed in an induced coma.

However, she is in stable condition and is being monitored by hospital staff, Berita Harian reported him as saying.

“She has been placed in an induced coma since yesterday after her thyroid problem began to affect her heart and lungs, which were found to be filled with fluid,” he said at the Perlis assembly complex.

“For now, we have not made any decision to appoint anyone to assume her duties. Let us all pray for her recovery,” he said.

Wan Badariah won the Mata Ayer seat in the 2022 general election with a majority of 2,021 votes over incumbent Siti Berenee Yahaya of Barisan Nasional.
