The former Batu MP, a spokesman for Sekretariat Solidariti Palestin (SSP), said other NGO representatives were also summoned to give their statements at the Sentul police headquarters.
“The investigating officer simply said the case is being probed under the Peaceful Assembly Act.
“I do not know what section the investigation is being held under. I will fully cooperate with the police in their investigation,” he said, according to Harian Metro.
The protest was held last Thursday outside the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre, where the Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Asia National Security Exhibition 2024 were being held.
SSP was protesting the presence of major western defence contractors such as Lockheed Martin and MBDA (BAE Systems) at the exhibition.
It said these firms had provided arms to Israel and engaged “in genocide as well as brutal killings against the Palestinian people”.
Some of these companies previously provided military equipment to Malaysia.
Tian Chua said the invitation to participate in the exhibition to these defence companies contradicted Putrajaya’s stand in support of the Palestinian cause.
“And we can see this (support for the Palestinians) in the prime minister’s recent meeting with Hamas leaders in Qatar,” the former PKR vice-president added.
