KUALA BERANG: Ten secondary school students here escaped in time as a fire blazed through the school hostel early this morning.
Kuala Berang fire and rescue station chief Zulhisham Yusof said the fire destroyed 70% of the hostel premises at Sekolah Menengah Sains Hulu Terengganu.
The fire was believed to have started at about 3.30am and consumed a 36 square metre dormitory room. “All the students in the room managed to save themselves,” he said when contacted today.
The fire was put out at 5.46am. Firefighters are identifying the cause of the fire and the estimated losses.
