The Bersatu deputy president said the coalition will first “look into what we can do” but “further action will definitely be taken,” he said, according to The Star.
He has reportedly not ruled out filing an election petition to contest the victory of Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao of DAP.
Faizal blamed PN’s loss on the low turnout of voters today, particularly those who were based out-of-town and did not return to cast their ballots.
The final turnout of voters today was 61.5%, compared to 69.25% at the state assembly elections last August.
“I believe that a group of voters, especially those working outside (of Kuala Kubu Bharu) did not take the opportunity to come back to vote. That’s why the turnout was low,” he said, according to Berita Harian.
Referring to talk about a boycott of the by-election, “I think that’s more of voters who support the other side (PH). Preliminary analysis indicates a drop in support from their hardcore supporters,” he said.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan had previously said PN would file an election petition if PH won the by-election, accusing PH of abusing government machinery before and during the election campaign.
PH leaders have denied the allegation, saying the coalition adhered to election laws, with DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook saying it was peculiar that PN would only file an election petition if PH won the seat.
