“The MACC complaints centre is looking into the matter but so far no investigation paper has been opened,” he said at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre today, Bernama reported.
On April 18, Nga announced RM5.21 million in funding for the Hulu Selangor municipal council to improve public infrastructure in the area.
This was criticised by the opposition, which claimed that releasing the funds was politically motivated to coincide with the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.
In a separate development, Azam stated that MACC does not intend to detain former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad over the declaration of assets.
“That’s no longer the case. We have no intention to detain him … the investigation is still ongoing,” he said.
Azam previously said Mahathir was among a number of high-profile people under investigation by the MACC about their assets.
Mahathir’s two sons, Mirzan and Mokhzani, have been issued notices to declare their assets under Section 36 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
