PETALING JAYA: A large tree fell at Jalan Sultan Ismail in downtown Kuala Lumpur amid heavy rain this afternoon, causing several cars to be trapped underneath it.
The tree brought down a covered walkway as it toppled, crashing down on several vehicles.
Fire and rescue department personnel are at the scene.
According to Astro Radio Traffic, the incident has blocked off the entire road in front of Wisma Concorde. Traffic congestion is expected to worsen.
Meanwhile, Rapid KL said all Kuala Lumpur monorail services between the Hang Tuah and Medan Tuanku stations have been suspended as part of the tree had fallen on the line’s tracks.
It advised affected commuters to make use of the LRT and MRT lines to get to their destinations.
