PUTRAJAYA:
Perlis menteri besar Shukri Ramli claims to be in the dark about the reason he was questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), despite spending nearly eight hours at its headquarters earlier today.

“For various cases. I’m not sure myself,” he told reporters when asked why he was summoned to the MACC’s headquarters here today.

Asked if he would be summoned again, Shukri said: “No.”

The PAS leader left the MACC building in his vehicle at 6.55pm today.

Earlier today, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki confirmed that Shukri was “detained” upon his arrival at the anti-corruption agency’s headquarters around 10am today.

Azam later told reporters that the menteri besar was released on MACC bail after providing a statement regarding an alleged abuse of power case.

However, a post on Shukri’s Facebook page by its administrator denied that the menteri besar was detained.

Shukri’s son and four others are being investigated over the alleged falsification of documents related to claims for infrastructure projects worth RM600,000.

The five, who were detained last Wednesday, were released on bail by MACC two days later.
