Brickfields police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the suspect, a 35-year-old man, was angry with the complainant and his girlfriend for being noisy during a quarrel in their condominium unit.
He added that the suspect was a friend of another tenant in the same unit.
“The suspect was furious over the argument between the complainant and his girlfriend. This misunderstanding did not stop at the unit.
“The suspect later intentionally rammed his car into the complainant’s car as the latter was exiting his parking lot. The complainant’s vehicle was heavily damaged but the complainant did not suffer any injuries,” he said in a statement.
Ku Mashariman said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday at about 6.15pm and remanded for three days.
He said the man has had a criminal record since 2014 and is still wanted for another criminal case in Cheras.
“The investigation paper was referred to the deputy public prosecutor on April 26, with the proposal to charge the suspect under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.”
The incident was captured in a 27-second video which went viral, showing the moment the suspect rammed his car into the complainant’s vehicle.
