KUALA LUMPUR:
The High Court today postponed to May 2 its decision on Rumah Bonda founder Siti Bainun Ahd Razali’s appeal against her guilty verdict for neglecting and abusing a teenage girl with Down Syndrome.

Siti Bainun’s lawyer Haijan Omar said the new date was emailed by the court on April 22.

“Today’s appeal decision has been postponed to May 2 at 9.30am,” Haijan said.

On March 7, Justice Noorin Badaruddin set today for the decision on Siti Bainun’s appeal, following submissions from her lawyers and deputy public prosecutors.

On May 3, 2023, sessions court judge Izralizam Sanusi ordered Siti Bainun to serve 12 years in prison after dismissing her application to stay her sentence.

Siti Bainun – who was found guilty of abusing 13-year-old Bella in a condominium unit in Wangsa Maju here between February and June 2021 – was also ordered to sign a RM5,000 five-year good behaviour bond with one surety.

She was further directed to perform 200 hours of community service, to be completed within six months of her release from prison.

On May 23, 2023, the High Court also rejected Siti Bainun’s application to stay the sentence after finding that there were no special or exceptional circumstances to do so.
