
Budiman received his appointment letter from Chief Justice Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh in a brief ceremony at the Palace of Justice here today.
Budiman proceeded to take his oath of office before Chief Judge of Malaya Hashim Hamzah.
Also present were Court of Appeal president Abu Bakar Jais and Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Azizah Nawawi.
Budiman will report for duty at the High Court in Johor Bahru on Friday.
The 49-year-old was a member of the prosecution team in the SRC International Sdn Bhd trial that led to the conviction of former prime minister Najib Razak for corruption.
Budiman was also the conducting officer in the royal commission of inquiry formed to probe management and operation issues faced by Tabung Haji from 2014 to 2020.
Budiman read law at the King’s College in London.
He was in private practice before joining the Attorney-General’s Chambers in 2004 as a deputy public prosecutor before being promoted to senior federal counsel.
He left the service in 2022 to join the SC.
