PETALING JAYA:
A slight haze has caused unhealthy air quality in parts of the Klang Valley on the first day of Aidilfitri today.

The environment department’s air pollutant index (API) recorded unhealthy levels of 158 and 153 in Banting and Klang, respectively, at 11am.

In Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, the API stood at 155 as of 11am.

An API of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and 300 and above hazardous.

According to the hourly API table, Banting’s air quality first reached unhealthy levels at 2am on April 8, and has remained in that region until today.

Klang’s API breached the 100-mark yesterday morning at 2am while Cheras followed suit at 7pm last night.
