Terengganu schools suspend outdoor activities amid hot weather

The state’s education department says it has issued a notice, which took effect on April 20.

KUALA TERENGGANU:
All schools in Terengganu have been instructed to suspend outdoor activities because of the hot and dry weather.

Terengganu education director Kamsah @ Kamal Mohamed said a notice had been issued to all schools in the state and took effect on April 20.

“All outdoor activities have been suspended, including water-based activities. However, indoor activities are permitted,” he said.

“Other activities, such as the 1 Student 1 Sport programme, uniformed units, clubs and associations, as well as sports and games, are also suspended.

“This decision was made to ensure safety as the well-being of students cannot be compromised.

“Assemblies and similar gatherings are only allowed in the early morning. Any programmes scheduled for the afternoon must be postponed.”

He said any further instructions would be communicated from time to time in line with guidelines issued by the education ministry.
