Hilir Perak police chief Ahmad Adnan Basri said the seven, aged 25-45, were arrested in different locations in Teluk Intan.
“We received a call from a doctor in the accident and emergency department at Teluk Intan Hospital at 8.15pm on Friday, stating that a man had been brought in unconscious with injuries to his chest and neck caused by a sharp object.
“Upon checking the hospital’s closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording, it was found that a man driving a Proton Saga had brought the victim to the hospital and then left,” he said in a statement today.
Adnan said that after interviewing the suspects, police believe the incident was triggered by jealousy as the victim was believed to have shown interest in the wife of one of the suspects.
Adnan said the suspects had been remanded until April 12, and the case had been categorised as murder.
He added that police were trying to locate another man to complete their investigation.
“Those with information regarding D Tanabalan, 42, can contact investigating officer Shahrul Shamsudin at 05-623-3969 or 017-975-2668, or they can file a report at any police station,” he said.
