KUALA LUMPUR:
Traffic flow on several major highways was reported to be smooth as of 8pm today as Malaysians returned to their hometowns for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations next week.

Slow traffic was reported in Johor Bahru due to the increased number of vehicles from Woodlands, Singapore, to the border checkpoint at the Sultan Iskandar Building.

“At the Bentong toll plaza, traffic is beginning to build up due to an increased number of vehicles, with the congestion stretching an estimated 200 metres eastbound,” a spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority said.

Traffic flow at the northbound lanes of Jalan Duta toll plaza and southbound lanes of Sungai Besi toll plaza were under control.

“So far, all highways are smooth-flowing. The Gombak toll plaza has seen an increase in traffic volume but is still smooth flowing,” the spokesman said. Traffic flow on the KL-Karak expressway and East Coast Highway was also smooth.

A stalled bus on the southbound PLUS highway resulted in slower traffic flow, according to a PLUS advisory. It said the bus had stalled at Km258 between Port Dickson and Senawang.
