PETALING JAYA:
Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has denied claims by Umno Supreme Council member Razlan Rafii that he has not contributed to the party since his suspension two years ago.

The former Pasir Salak MP said he still actively serves the public despite his Umno membership being suspended in October 2022.

“(I am) more active compared to some current elected representatives. The suspension is not an issue,” the former Umno Supreme Council member told FMT

“He (Razlan) doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He just wants to accuse me of not contributing to the party or to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.”

Razlan had earlier hit out at Tajuddin for slamming Umno leaders, who he claimed dare not speak out on national issues.

Razlan questioned Tajuddin’s stance and said he had “disappeared from the radar” since he was suspended 18 months ago.

He also questioned what contributions Tajuddin had made before and after the 2022 general election, and alleged that Tajuddin had done little to regain public support for the party.

Describing Razlan as “a new kid”, Tajuddin said he had helped Umno secure the Pasir Salak parliamentary seat for three terms during his nearly 50 years with the party.

“I am committed to helping the party win every election,” he said.

“The same goes for (my) colleagues in other areas. Isn’t that contributing to the party? I don’t need to announce everything I do.”

He said Umno leaders need to “wake up” and try their best to address national issues of concern.

Tajuddin was suspended from Umno for six years in October 2022 after he openly criticised the party following his removal as a Supreme Council member in June of the same year.

His appeal against his suspension was rejected by the Supreme Council on Jan 5 last year.

Tajuddin was an Umno Supreme Council member for 15 years and the Pasir Salak Umno chief for 18 years.
