Pahang cops tracking down sole suspect in Kuantan KK Mart attack

CCTV footage suggests that only one person may be responsible for the petrol bomb incident.

A KK Mart store in Kuantan, Pahang, was the second outlet that was the target of a petrol bomb attack.
KUANTAN:
Police believe that the petrol bomb attack on the KK Mart outlet in Sungai Isap here last Saturday was carried out by a lone individual.

Kuantan police chief Wan Zahari Wan Busu said this conclusion was drawn after analysing multiple closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) recordings around the area, Bernama reported.

“Efforts to track down the suspect are under way, and we will also examine other CCTV footage to assist in the investigation into the incident,” he was quoted as saying.

Wan Zahari called on those with information regarding the case to step forward and assist in the investigation under Section 435 of the Penal Code.

On March 30, the KK Mart in Sungai Isap was attacked with a petrol bomb which set several items on display at the front of the store alight.

The workers at the store were able to immediately put out the blaze using a fire extinguisher.

The attack in Kuantan marked the second such incident following a petrol bomb attack on a KK Mart outlet in Bidor, Perak, on March 26. The device in that incident did not explode.

A third attack at a KK Mart store occurred in Kuching, Sarawak, on March 31.
